Woman Arrested on Suspicion of More Than 100 Instances of Elder Abuse
A 25-year old woman is facing multiple misdemeanor and felony charges after admitting to stealing from elderly patients and even denying medication over a five to six-year period.
On Wednesday, Junction City police arrested Nichole Jendraszek in connection with the theft of money, jewelry, and other elder abuse against residents at Junction City Retirement and Assisted Living. Jendraszek later signed an affidavit admitting to the thefts as well as similar criminal acts at prior places of employment, according to police.
Jendraszek is currently being held at Lane County Jail on 91 felony charges and 51 misdemeanor charges including first-degree criminal mistreatment, drug tampering, second-degree theft, and third-degree theft.
Police were tipped off on Sept. 10 by the son of a resident who called to report nursing home neglect after his father’s money was stolen while he was a resident at the facility. During an interview conducted by investigators, Jendraszek admitted to stealing nearly 300 pieces of jewelry and drugs from residents over a five to six-year span.
